Heather and I decided to go to Thailand after my Thai friends from law school days, Noi and Nok, found me through the internet, we re-established connections, and they encouraged us to come. So we did! We spent a few days in Bangkok, then traveled north to Ayutthaya, then east (Isan), including Surin with trips to an elephant camp, a silk weaving village, and the Cambodian border. We spent time at Khoa Yai National Park, before heading back to Bangkok. We spent a few days in Chiang Mai (north), then flew back to Bangkok, where we took in a few more sites and said good-byes to our dear and generous friends, including Tanti and Pornchai. It was a great trip.
